Jesse

I just got a new to me truck! His name is Jesse, he is a 1989 F150, 300I6, M5OD, 4x4, new fuel pumps, complete new brake system (including brake lines) rebuilt transmission, rebuilt transfer case, new TPS, new IAC, new O2 sensor, new cap, new rotor, new spark plugs (Motorcraft), new 8.8mm wires. Everything works including AC and cruise control.

When I got him the cat was blown up (literally chunks had clogged up the exhaust) I cut the cat off, extended the pipe to a flow master 40's series with a turn down dump under the bed.

Ever since I've got him he has ran rich and the CEL has remained on, I can't remember how to do the KOEO codes without the little scanner and I've never been able to function the search bar very well. So if anyone can teach me how to do the KOEO codes without a scanner I would appreciate it greatly.

Jesse has 140k on the ticker, has had Royal Purple oil in him for the past 10 years (I have a folder with all the maintence, repair records, receipts etc.)

Well that's about it for the ol guy, oh yeah, I only paid 800 bucks for him and drove him home. Thanks for reading, pictures soon to follow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on the KOEO procedure.

very nice. a little body work and some paint and a little TLC will make it a grate sport truck. as for running rich i would start with the basic's / tuneup / check compression / vacuum leaks and so on.

Google "pull codes obd1 f150" and the procedure will come up. You have to ground a terminal in the self test block that is located on the drivers side, attached to a rail by the air filter.

Why do you think it's running rich?

A little update on Jesse, the fan clutch went out and had to cut it off. So I decided to go with an electric fan.
