Removing efi on ford i6 300 1995

I'm removing the efi on my truck and running straight carburetor with a new exhaust manifold. Do I have to replace the head or will it slip right on?

Here we go again!

No, you don't have to replace your head, but that's going to be the least of your worries!

What kind of problems have you seen?

It has been discussed endlessly and recently. Search bar is your friend.

Just a summary, there will be more.

Fuel pressure will need to be reduced. Several methods here, not all are good.
You will need to change the intake manifold.
Do you have an electronically controlled transmission? No EFI = big headache.

All this to reduce performance and reliability? Not a good plan.

It's a manual, so I'm pretty sure it's not electronic. I'm thinking either a Clifford or offenhauser. I'm aware of the fuel pressure. And no, in the end I don't think my performance will be decreased, quite the opposite.

I've done this

I should say I have used an EFI 300 with a carburator. Mine was a 91'.

It now has a Clifford intake with the EFI exh manifolds and is fed by a 63' Autolite carb. It runs great...It is however in my 86 Bronco.

I did rebuild it, and opened up the hole in the block for a manual fuel pump......I'll follow your progress.

The answer is the head is the same for carb'ed versus EFI versions just like the 5L and 5.8L engines.

I'm attempting the 'joy of six' project to hopefully get around 500hp. I'd like to eliminate the efi. Just making sure that it'll work before I get too far.

Good to hear, that's what I needed to know. Thanks

This is kinda true..but for the most part and EFI head has a different combustion chamber (faster burn), so tune accordingly.

As a disclaimer I wouldn't recommend removing ANYTHING from your factory approved "95" Ford product.

Pardon my lack of fully making myself clear. From the aspect of whether or not a carb'ed manifold will fit on an EFI head, I correctly answered the OP's question.

It was my oversight to not mention there may be some differences internally.

The same can be said for the 5/5.8L engines but from the perspective of manifold fitment, there is no issue.
