94 inline six manual trans. No known mods just got this year.

The tube between the first cat And the second cat broke off and would be nearly impossible to weld a good bead all the way around without removing exhaust.. I'm wondering if anyone has plugged the exhaust hole and bypassed that tube. Goods and bads of doing it and what or how did you guys do it. Thanks in advance.
