Tire Carrier Parts Availability?

In between when my 89 rolled off the assembly line and the time I got it, someone removed the tire carrier. All the holes and such are still there and I've managed to piece together a nearly complete 89 carrier to put back on. However, my problem is this: I don't have the latching/locking block that bolts to the tailgate. I think Ford calls this the striker - are these still available somewhere? I don't seem to be able to find a striker part number online. The closest to it that I can find is the one off the 90-96 trucks - is this the same?

Thanks in advance.

My guess is what you're going to hear is "go to a salvage yard..." I saw one two weeks ago at a salvage yard in Wichita on a mid to late 80's Bronco. I would assume they are extremely similar, but that's an assumption.

I have the whole setup for sale on Craigslist. You'll also need the brace that goes inside the gate.

Okay, I think I need to restate this.

1. I have a Bronco that came from the factory with a tire carrier. Someone removed the external tire carrier from the truck and never replaced it. The hoies, braces and bolts were all still in the truck when I got it.

2. I have managed to get not one but two 87-91 tire carriers. They are almost complete except for one part - the external support that bolts to the tailgate. This is part number 8 in the below diagram; Ford seems to call it a striker.

3. I'm asking whether I can use the external support from a 92-96 Bronco as I have not been able to find one from an 87-91. I have lines on a couple of 92-96 supports but if they don't work I won't be able to return them.

4. Alternately, if they don't interchange, I'm looking for a part number for the 87-91 support so I can try to track one down.

Hope that clears up what information I'm looking for. Again, thanks in advance.

Edit: I found a reference that seems to indicate the original 80-87 striker had a part number of EOTZ 1469-A and that it was replaced by F2TZ1469A. This referencealso seems to indicate that the 88-89 trucks used a different part number of E8TZ 1469-A and was replaced by "Mat 92000". Anyone have any idea what a Mat 92000 is and if the above information is correct?
