Reviving My 1946 6g8t 1.5 ton truck
As i have shared in another post when i first joined the forum I got a 1946 ford from my wife's parents. It was actually my wifes grandfathers he bought it new in 47. So 1 owner. The last time it was plated for the road was 1972 and it just sat in my wife's parents back yard for the last 20+ years with no one ever touching it. I got the chance to get it since they were planing on moving so i had a friend haul it from Idaho where they live to Indiana where i live. Some of the pictures in this build thread have already been posted but ill post again so they are all together

Hi there, your truck bed looks like the bed on my 1945 ford 1 1/2 ton, i will take a photo of it to show how close they are, makes me wonder if there was a set of plans available for that type of bed back in the day.
also i see you referred to this truck as a G8T model, so maybe this info will help you with the differences between the two models. the G8T was the military model, it had some different features than the Civilian model which is what yours is, for example it would of had 6 hole budd rims insted of 5 hole, a rear mesh window guard, there would be no side marker lights on the front end, only a flat spot where they would be. a single bar guard over the headlights, shock absorbers, and Bumperettes at the rear of the frame, tow hooks in the front. also the inside of the cab is different above the windshield.

Yup, this used to be sugar beet country and there are a lot of old dilapidated side dumps around.

the truck runs but hasent been started in a long time, i am not sure what i want to do with the bed, i still have the end board that looks like in the photo at the beet dump, my plan is to re create the pattern with all of the old hardware, but if i get a script bed i might go that way, ??
