Any hood top trim ornaments on our trucks were an add on by some previous owner, not stock.

Looks like the base section of a car hood ornament, perhaps even a 52 Ford Crestliner.

No Crestliners until 1953 and the 1952/54 car "Jet" hood ornaments were one piece.

Pics: 1953 upper, 1954 lower.

Question not-so-related question

is the 48-50 cab the same as the 51-52? i assumed they were different, but saw something that said otherwise.

specifically, my '52 F3 needs a passenger door -- can i expand the search to 48-52?

thanks.

I believe the cabs will interchange but the back window and dash will be different.

I also think the doors will fit but the vent window will have small differences.

They should fit otherwise.

Doors are the same 48-52 F1-8. The difference as noted by Scotty is the lock pin on the vent window handle. Some have it, some don't. Not enough to worry about in the big picture.

I still have the door you want if we can figure a way to get it from my house to yours.

I thought the difference in wing windows referred to was the chrome/SS vs black.

51-2 "extra cab" deluxe trim had a low-grade stainless vent window frame. They're shiny but still rust. Everyone else had black.

When I was looking for a vent window for my 52 and parts to repair it I found the latches and pivots are different.

The vent windows as a unit will interchange but the individual parts will not. You can't use 51 and 52 upper pivots on a 48-50 frame. The latches on the 48-50 do not have the button the 51-52 has either.

I found this out when I realized the PO of my truck "tried" to interchange pivots and latches and it just didn't work.
