Hello. I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I have a 2005 Ford F-150 with a 4.6L and auto tranny non 4 wheel drive. I have a hard time moving from park to drive and reverse. Is there a switch that lets you put it in gear once the brake pedal is depressed? Could that have gone bad?
It could have. But if it did you wouldn't be able to get it out of park.
The problem is almost always the TRS (Transmission Range Sensor.) It's on the driver's side of the trans. It is the black plastic part with the wiring harness attached. It isn't at all hard to change.
Disconnect the linkage from the DTR and see if the mechanical stiffness goes away before you spend money on a new one. That way, you'll positively KNOW what the problem is.
