Did Ford make a 77 and earlier supercab 4x4?

I am thinking the answer is "no"....

It also seems then all supercab trucks are 37" wide frame.

I thought the first year was 1975, but wiki says...
For 1974, the F-Series became available in an extended cab for the first time. Dubbed as the "SuperCab", it offered the six-passenger seating of the crew cab in a slightly shorter length. For 1975, the F-150 was introduced; as part of an effort to circumvent upcoming emissions requirements, this truck was designed with a heavier maximum payload (2,275 lb (1,032 kg) when properly equipped) than the F-100. With the half-ton F-100 still in production, the new F-150 was referred to as the "heavy half-ton".

I don't know much about the old extended cabs.
I have only ever seen 2 4x4 versions, the first one I was too young and dumb to ask the owner about, he was a parts supplier for the shop I worked at, it was a short bed, I don't even remember if it was 1/2 or 3/4t.

And then there is this one for sale locally on CL
1978 Ford F250 Super Cab 4x4 - $4500 (Breckenridge)

Every other one I've seen has been 2wd.

'78 was the first year for a 4WD Supercab F150 & F250. '79 was the first year for a 4WD F350 Supercab (and regular cab, too).

that is what I expected....can't recall ever seeing an pre 78 truck in 4x4.

At the moment I have (2) 78's and (1) 79 all 4x4.....was wondering if they ever came with a narrow frame in 4x4 but the answer is "Nope".

1975 Super cab 4x4

I just bought this truck and the title says its a 1975 f250 . But know I am reading that they didnt make 4x4 models. I am so confused now. This truck has Dana 60s in the front and rear with closed knuckles in the front. Can anyone give me some guidance?

Grab the VIN number from the door tag (if it's still there) and run it against This chart to determine what the VIN says it is.

The grille is 78/79, so it's possible it was either a body swap or a 4wd conversion.

1973/76 F250 4WD & 1977 F250 4WD before serial number Y20,001 are called High Boys, have a divorced transfer case and in-cab fuel tank.

High Boys are Regular and Crew Cab Styleside/Flareside pickups, or Cab & Chassis (no "back of cab" equipment), but no Super Cab is a High Boy.

1977 F250 from serial number Y20,001 (not a High Boy) is the first F250 4WD Super Cab, has a married transfer case, no in-cab fuel tank.

Still driven daily, washed semi-annually.

33 1/2" width between the inner frame rails behind the cab: 1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys); 1973/79 F350 Regular Cabs on the 140" wheelbase & F350 Cab & Chassis.

Everything else: 37 1/2" width between the inner frame rails behind the cab. There were no High Boy Super Cabs.
