Alan,
I had something similar to that happen on my 75 way back when. I had spent 50 plus miles on dirt logging roads and the pump vibrated loose. Once the belt was loose enough, I lost steering assist on the worst possible road - single lane blacktop with endless switchbacks and nowhere to pull over. Manhandling the beast down the mountain caused fluid to be ejected out the fill spout and made a horrendous mess under the hood. I was quite lucky it didn't get the exhaust manifold enough to catch fire. Although I was able to get it working again, the pump flat out died before I made it home.

Dave, I figured I turned it enough without power to throw fluid. I think it may have a small leak anyway, but I hope it's as simple as tightening up the belt. I'll look in to it and report back tomorrow. One thing about an IDI diesel, ......they vibrate!

True there Alan. I test hopped a 12 valve Cummins back in the early 90s and was surprised at much it vibrated.

Good Morning Everybody!

I hope to get RC's truck blocked out again and some light grey sprayed on the roof and hood. Then I'll look in to the hauler. If everything goes well today, there should be a two tone bump in my shop Saturday morning.
