Oil Temp on SCT Livewire

Wanted to stop in and say hi, haven't been around in a while. Finally got around to the EGR delete so that's done and up next is the CAI. I have been running this 9625OR tuner now for a couple of years and temps have always been about the same. Recently was reading about oil temps and that's when I noticed mine was way off according to the tuner. I have had no issues or warnings about temp differences. Talking with my diesel mechanic he thinks is just the tuner as he said if it really was this huge difference I would get some kind of warning. Any others with a 9625OR have there oil temps reading in the mid 90s?

I have an edge insight cts hooked up and monitor oil and coolant temps all the time. Oil and coolant run hand in hand on my truck. They may vary as much as 10 degrees from each other, but usually closer to like 5 degrees apart. They run between 188 to 200 when at operating temperature. A little hotter in the summer time.

Something ain't right on your truck.

Called SCT and they say something might be corrupted in the tuner. It's like it's just missing the 1 in front of the 95. As soon as I have time they are going to remote into the unit and look at everything.

That sound logical. A 100 degree difference doesn't sound possible.

With that much of a difference wouldn't go into limp mode or either throw me a code?

I don't know about throwing a code, but you could pull the dipstick and feel the oil when warmed up. I'd say you should be able to tall the difference between 95 degrees and 195 degrees just by touch.

An infrared thermometer on the oil pan might tell you as well. I agree that it may be the tuner, and if that's not it, I'd be swapping the sensor next.

I've been watching it real close the last few days and it's never more than 5º different. Most of the time they match except for the missing number "1". Still going to let SCT dig into it and see what they can find if anything.

Turns out the EOT on these units read in Celsius.
