60,000 mile report

Just rolled 59,700.3 miles tonight coming home from visiting my daughter at college. She'll be at 60K in a few days. The truck has been in service since 6/2011 and she was built 1/2011.

In summary, she's been amazing.

In detail:

Under warranty I've had the front rotors turned at 29K miles. I'm still on those same rotors and OE pads all around with no squeal. The last oil change showed 6/32's of meat left on the fronts and 4/32's on the rears. Not bad.

Under warranty I had all the badges replaced as they were peeling their clear coat. No push back at all and no new peeling.

The rear bumper was replaced under warranty for some rust that was seeping through a scratch from the factory. Ford was a PITA on this one.

At about 57K miles, I had the oil changed. I knew the battery was getting somewhat weak. It tested at 399 CCA's so I had the dealer replace it with the MC Maxx battery, $130.00 OTD.

While the dealer killed the power to replace the battery, the vent door actuator behind the stack went nuts. The dealer acknowledged that it wasn't clicking when I brought it in so they replaced the actuator for $50.00 as if I had a Ford ESP on the truck. The actual repair was north of $800.00. My dealer is a superstar in my book, they've always taken great care of us.

I replaced my OE Hankook tires at around 50K miles with BFG Rugged Terrains. The Hankooks lasted 50K and still had 5/32's of tread remaining when I retired them. I love the BFG's. The ride is smooth and sort of quiet and they are great in the snow and heavy rains. I'll buy them again.

I've religiously changed the oil every 6500 miles or less since the first change. On the last two changes, she's been down about 1/2 quart at 5500 miles. So, I'm adjusting my dump cycle to about 6000 miles.

I've towed and hauled heavy with no push back from the truck. The 4x4 system is stable and sure footed. She's good on gas still but I did lose about 2 MPG's with the new tires. The truck came with the 235-17's and I increased them to the 265-17's. My normal highway mileage would range from 20-24 with the Hankook and now ranges from 19-22 on summer fuel. Winter fuel blows so we won't discuss that.

My truck is a base model XLT. I think the only two options that I don't have that I want are a sat radio and a rear window defroster.

There's really not much more to add, she has an easy life of mainly commuting and some work.

I've had zero symptoms of any kind to date. I run it pretty hard on the freeway and I still believe that's the recipe for a happy Ecoboost engine.

Discussion?

Happy motoring gents and be safe.
