1996 F-250 Running Board brace tubing

Hello. I am new to the site.

Please see pic. Hopefully it attached correctly.

I am looking to replace rusted running board brace tubing (for lack of knowing the real name). I don't see online. Anyone know if this is available?

Wayne

That looks identical to my '95. I haven't looked for the brace, but I'm gonna find someone to weld and bend me a new bracket.

Those are aftermarket. Looks like the onlything salvageable is the step itself. Probably better off to
just get a new set of side steps or just remove them if you dont use need them to get in and out
of the truck

Those are NOT aftermarket. Those are factory steps and like most, they have rusted away. Ford does not sell them anymore. Your only options are to find a used set is a local yard that are not rotted, have someone make you new ones or contact Diesel_Brad on this site and ask him where he got his made. If you go the factory route, be ready to pay for them. The last set I sold turned into a bidding war between two guy from craigslist and went for $435. I have seen them go for over $600 on ebay. And thats just the tubes.

They look really simple to get bent out of exhaust tubing...
I would imagine if you bought the pipe (possibly even stainless!!) an exhaust shop could help you bend it up.

I stand corrected. Exhaust tubing is way too big. Id use some 1"- 1.5" square
tubing and cut mitre joints thwn weld them back together. Depends
on what equipment you have available.

You can get exhaust tubing down to 1.25", that looks to be about the right size?

If it's smaller than that you could probably get a conduit bender and do it by hand.

Most of what I've seen is the same strength as exhaust tubing. You can buy some 90's and piece it together yourself.

If I were the OP, and wanted to keep the steps, I would fabricate a suitable replacement frame work out of square tubing/ angle, etc. Shouldn't be too bad.

I work in an aerospace tube shop; we could make these out of .125 wall stainless (or inco) that would blow the originals out of the water.
