460 header suggestions

Anyone know where to get a decent set of headers for a 460 without selling a kidney to pay for it?

Correct but there is a thing called value. It seems there is cheap junk and outrageously priced headers. Isn't there something in-between? $1200 for a set of headers? That's a joke. I called a couple companies that seemed like they don't care to sell OBS ford headers anymore.

I feel your pain.

I would love to put headers on mine but WOW. I have resolved to put it on the long term project list and put in a little overtime and eventually order a set of Banks long tubes.

I will watch this thread to see if some one has a quality alternative.

The banks headers are 1000-1100 from summit, hardly a joke considering they're stainless and actually of decent quality. They also come with a y pipe and bolts, further justifying the price. It may be a hard pill to swallow, but your options are limited. Gibson, doug thorley, and others have $6-800 headers that aren't stainless and don't come with a y pipe....

The banks torque tubes and y pipe are really the only setup without custom work on an f-series. Not cheap, but the quality is unmatched, and I can fully remove, then fully replace them by myself in a half hour or less. This is nice when you have to pull the motor more than a few times. No gaskets necessary either.

Agreed. And no gaskets to EVER blow other either

I've been hunting for a while myself and there just aren't any.

I have a really difficult time putting $1200 headers on a $3500 truck ($1800 for the entire exhaust), but that's what I'm going to end up doing. The other options aren't really viable options..

On the bright side, they're all SS, so they should last a good long time, and they seem to be built above and beyond everyone elses', On the downside they don't seem to offer a set without AIR tubes.

According to the website, those are for the manual transmixer. I need 48812. Their website leaves a little to be desired.

I have a buddy who has the Doug thorley headers and he raves about them. They came with a y pipe and are coated but not stainless... Still 900 or so for the headers.

Are hooker, Hedman, and flow tech bad companies for headers? Poor quality? Seem reasonably priced on summit

All just mild steel(will rot out in a couple years)
THIN flages and require a gasket(like to blow out)
