How to get keyless entry fobs to work while the truck is running

I have an 01 F150 SuperCrew with factory keyless entry fobs. I would like to be able to leave my truck running, take the keyless entry fob with me, and then lock the doors. Currently, the keyless entry fobs are disabled when the truck is running and I'd be locked out of the truck. I've had newer Fords that would allow the fobs to stay active with the vehicle running. Does anyone have any idea if this can be programmed into the truck? Google wasn't any help. Thanks in advance.

Leave a window rolled down - then you can get back into the truck.

Weird, my '02 will unlock using the fob with the truck running.
I use my door key pad though.

The 01's owner's manual explicitly states that the remote fobs will only unlock the doors when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position. It doesn't indicate such a requirement for the keypad.

The 02's owner's manual includes this update indicating a change in operations:
Depending upon when your vehicle was manufactured, the remote entry
features may operate differently:
• the remote entry features will only operate with the ignition in the
LOCK position. Additionally, this system will disable the power door
lock controls, which will remain inoperative until the vehicle is
disarmed. Or,
• the remote entry features, with the exception of the PANIC control,
will operate in all ignition positions; the PANIC alarm only operates
with the ignition in the LOCK position.

You need a 2002 or newer for that trick.

Can you add a key pad to an 03 f150?
