1951 F1 disc conversion from Speedway Motors

Has anyone added the Speedway motors front disc conversion to their stock trucks? If so will I need to add a new master cylinder? If so recommendations for an easy no modification master cylinder?
Thanks in advance.

You cannot run disc brakes off the stock master cylinder. It's way too small. You need to step up to a dual reservoir unit that's made for front disc brakes.

What Wayne said. Also, you are going to have to need an adapter to mount the dual MC.

I bought the kit, but I haven't installed it yet.

JP,
Can you please give me a few more details about where you purchased your kit and what kit it was?
Thanks

I just finished installing the disk kit from Speedway, the only issue was the bearing adapters that "press on" the spindle slid on with no effort and the bearing went on tight.....I ended up tack welding the adapter to the spindle and polishing the outer surfice so the bearing would slide on easier. Other than that it worked out well. I also upgraded to a power booster/master brake combo that the sell. So far so good.

That is the kit I have. I am in need of what master cylinder and mounting hardware you are going with. Thanks

What power booster/master cylinder did you go with? Did it bolt right into the existing frame mounting location with any issues?
Thank you

I haven't picked up a MC yet, but I'm looking at one from a 74 F100. I picked up an adapter from Classic Haulers (I don't have a part number handy). Though I'm not sure how much I like the design.

I've been eyeballing this adapter: https://www.bobdrake.com/FordItem.aspx?Item=EC-410 It doesn't say it will work with our trucks. But from what I can tell, the trucks used the same stock master as the cars.

I'm probably not the best source for advice on this. I have relatively little experience with braking systems. There are others on here that have a lot more knowledge in this area than me.

I used a master cylinder from a mid 70's F100 and an adapter from ECI. I'm running drums all around and no power.

fyrhosr - Just any MC won't work in all brake systems. Who ever you end up buying the MC from, make sure it's designed for a disc front/drum rear setup like yours will be. Ken
