Had a shop put on a diamond eye turbo back straight pipe on my truck. I think I may have a exhaust leak where the down pipe attaches to the turbo. Ive noticed the heat shield behind the turbo that is attached to the firewall is turning a black/ darker color. It might have been like this before and I just haven't noticed. But is there a gasket or something that goes in there?

 

Sure its not your up pipes? Or maybe the clamp is worn out.

 

He nailed it! I'd bed that pass side up pipe is leaking. The pass side always is the first to go...

 

Anyway to check it? What kind of job is it to replace the up pipes?

 

Look where the up pipe goes into the turbo collector. Black soot will be coming out of that joint.
It is not a small job. Pull turbo or trans is the two ways most access them.
