Aerostar on Boat Ramps

Thinking of towing a 1700lb (jon boat + trailer) with my 95 XLT Aerostar 4.0L. Will this van get the job on most boat ramps?

Thanks

More info: has axle code 25, so it's conventional with a ratio of 3.27.

How difficult is a swap to a code B9 (3.55) Traction-Lok?

Not sure on the swap, but I know there is some adjustment to get right. I think on the ramps you'll be fine unless you're getting the whole rear end down in the water on a shallow ramp. In that case you'll want the trac loc rear, and a taller gear wouldn't be bad either. I've got the 3.55 and its pretty decent, though I'm considering a 4.10 since going to a 15" wheel.

since its the 4.0 it has the popular 8.8 axle so i assume a posi from a mustang or exploder will fit.unless the axle spline count is wrong.

Back before the "cash for clunkers" program, I would see Aerostars towing boats weighing five or six thousand pounds.
But we do have very good boat ramps here.

I think I'll stay with what I have.
