Delivered damaged? New 6.0 Trans cooler from Tousley Ford

I ordered a 6.0 trans cooler from Tousley Ford. I was a little shocked to see the condition of the box when it arrived. It was busted up pretty good. Then when I opened the box I found it was loosely packed with just some brown paper.

1. Is the cooler supposed to be flat? Mine looks curved, is that normal?
2. A few fins looked banged up, not too bad, but one of the lower mounts looks like it took an impact. Should I be mad?

After all I paid over $300 for a trans cooler. I could've bought a $60 trans cooler from Summitracing and it would have been professionally packaged and shown up in perfect condition. It's after business hours at Tousley and I just came home to this so I will have to call them tomorrow. I guess I expect more for the price.

Was it delivered by FedEx?

I have had many products damaged by them.

UPS

I've had back luck with both UPS and Fedex actually. I'm concerned it looks bent but I've never seen one of these before so I don't know if that is what it should look like. It won't lay flat on the table. I don't know if the picture shows it that well

I have one still in the box I have not put on yet. It is flat, not curved.

Yeah I had a feeling. Thanks for chiming in. I will be calling them in the morning. This is disappointing. About $300 for the part and $35 for shipping I expect better.

Contact Tousley and see if they've got an answer for you. May have to file a claim with UPS.
I spent a couple Christmas seasons as a UPS driver helper. Some stuff comes off the tractor trailer to the local center like that. Other times the delivery trucks are so full that stuff has just been crammed in any old way the loaders can fit it and the driver has a heck of a time even trying to find stuff.
I'd bet it's more of a shipping company issue than Tousley. But I'd make them both aware to get it resolved.

The Motorcraft box should have been put in a larger box with packaging. It is common for Motorcraft parts in the original Motorcraft boxes to not be packed to handle shipping.(loose in box) Especially considering how the shipping companies throw them around.

Just off the phone with Tousley. They are taking good care of me and they will get UPS to pick up the damaged cooler and send me a new one once that happens.

This is how Ford shipped it to the dealer. The problem is, most dealers get their parts delivered via contract carrier and the parts are in cages so Ford doesn't spend a bunch of money on packaging. I spend a lot of time filing claims with Ford for damaged parts.

And this has nothing to do with Motorcraft as this is not a Motorcraft part. Ford parts, Motorcraft parts; they all come from Ford.

I am aware how they come to dealers, I see how they come in and who delivers them. But how dealers get them in is not really applicable to this situation. I was describing them as "Motorcraft" because that is what was supposed to be put in an additional box for shipping thru comp like UPS. Don't play the semantics card with me, Ford don't make a good portion of their own parts anyway. If I order Motorcraft parts from say Rockauto they are double boxed, like the OP should have been.(which should be apparent)

FWIW I ran one for many years that looked much worse than than. I bent it back into shape and it never missed a beat. Of course I paid $50 for mine, so I can definitely see your frustration.
