Ticking noise
I have a 1995 302 with a 600 eldabrock carb msn ignition the motor is making a ticking noise sounds like a bad lifter both sides one side is lounder than the other I replaced lifters witch are held from twisting with a pastic tray rather than dog bone setup,Well its still making the same noises I changed the rocker arms too still making the noises I'm lost maybie its a vaulve I'm lost any suggestions will a comprestion test tell me if its the vaulves not seating properly I have aluminum heads everything pretty new suppose to be a crate motor but look like a stock bottom end with empty alumnum heads added and stock springs and non adjustable vaulves.

exuast leak was half of it yes wow so simple did all that and the other half when I would drive it was the timing I never new if the trimming was off it could make a clatter noise I guess pre combustion but it stopped when I put a timing light and set it at I think 13 degrees or 15 witch I here is kinda on the higher side put it don't ping when I'm driving it and from what I hear its suppose to make a lil sewing maching sound, but higher RPMs it was ticking witch was the timing no more tick cant beleave I changed the rockers and lifters nothing happen lossen one bolt change timing fixed it least I had the parts layen round nothing outa pocket and knowledge gained about my motor.
