97 F250 TC issue

Today driving down the road at 70, my tc jumped out. If I accelerate the tc will lockup and hold even at wot . If I hold speed (at any speed ) or let off the tc will not be locked up, it will only lockup if I accelerate. Also the cruise control will not work while the problem is going on. Once everything acts right the cruise will work. Any ideas?

I don't understand the tc locking while accelerating, but the other symptoms are of the brake circuit being activated. Check the brake switch at the pedal. Also check to make sure none of the rear brake bulbs, even the on in the 3rd light on the cab, are burnt out.

Have you recently installed LED lights in any of the rear facing bulb positions? Without also adding a resistor, they can cause similar issues with the torque converter.

I do have LEDs in my tail lights, not the 3rd brake light. Then have been there for 4 years and never once caused a problem. I also have extra lights mounted in my headache rack LEDs as well they are spliced in to my tail lights. I'll check all my lights tonight after work.
