Here's my take on it... After maybe 35 or so old ford trucks through the years, many of which I said 'this is the end of the rainbow, my dream truck, I'll never sell it" and then I do. I can honestly say I have never built a truck to flip. I just see something else I want more and I raised 4 kids, 3 through 4 years of college and I always needed a little more dough. Then I sold another one. OK, so about the jailbars. They are relatively cheap and plentiful, have 59 AB which I have lots of parts for and am familiar with. It is very much to my advantage to stick to one series for part swapping and getting my 'keepers' together. For me they are not too old and not too new. Oh, and I really like how they look too.

Kind of a funny story along with it. I met Geoff's wife, Dennie at a little party at a neighbors house. They lived in Studio City Ca and did movie work. After talking to Dennie about her past work she said she had directed some dumb movie in the '90s called 'Joe Dirt'. ... Having raised 4 kids through teenager-hood in that era I had seen Joe Dirt a number of times, so I rattled off a bunch of lines from the movie such as "shoulda named him kickin'***" and "puts the lotion on the skin" etc etc... A few months later I met her husband Geoff and I remarked how awesome it was his wife directed Joe Dirt! He sorta shook his head and said that when some people become informed of that they start quoting her lines from that 'cheesy show'. I of course responded with "how tacky is that?". They are a really great couple and Geoff had no reason to film my scene than he thought it would be fun to chronicle. I will be building them 4 bar stools next month for their kitchen island....

My wife brought home an assortment pack of artist brushes last time she went to the mainland. This inspired me to paint an old door with my flat tacoma cream paint I use to make weathered jailbars. Unfortunately I had already consumed my quota of beers and mis calculated the center so it's a bit offset. Not only that, but I used the pattern for the wood surround at the rear fender to get the arch. As you know, it's not a true arc, it's an offset parabola or whatever. Well you get the picture. I like playing with the 'dry brush' effect, someday I'll get both parts right.....
