What engine?

And that list from the build and price is based on the options you chose. So, hard to tell what you're looking at.

3.31 should serve your needs with a 3.5 EcoBoost or 5.0 V8

I'd probably go with a 3.55 with the 2.7 EcoBoost or the base V6.

3.55. If you plan on bigger tires get the 3.73s. Doubt you'll ever need the elactronic locker unless you take your camper to the beach.

Also consider ordering the payload package. If you're pulling the pop up, you probably have the family or friends and a weekends worth of gear. The weight adds up quick.

I live near Seattle but hunt the month of October 900 miles East where there are two paved roads in the whole county and gumbo mud is terrible. When it freezes and snows, people can finally get around.

I will put BF Goodrich mud tires on. The truck is really just for October.

Yeah, I'd go with the e-locker too, since you'll be in nasty mud. Payload package since you'll be bringing all your gear back, plus an elk carcass or two and a couple hundred pounds of mud packed underneath.

I don't drive the interstate or hwy much, but when I do I'm usually towing somewhere. I had 3.55's in my 3.5EB and I would no doubt order 3.73's next time. I also always run heavier 10ply tires which come into play in my choice too.

Get the e locker, better to have it and not need it, then to be stuck and wish you had it.
I got the 3.55 with the 5 lt and get 21 on the road

I have the 373 electric axle. Love it ! I get 20 plus mileage highway driving. I get 17.5 and better around town. I pull a 29' flat bed trailer loaded 10,000 LBS. I also have the 5.0 and snow plow option. It is the XLT / FX4 Super Crew 5.5 box. Towing mirrors Black sport interior , Race Red. Go with the 3.73!

Personally, I would go 3.55 or 3.73 with elocker. I have the 3.31 elocker, and while it's fine for most needs the truck is not as responsive as the 3.55 I test drove. I don't think it impacts fuel economy much - I'm still only getting 21 mpg on the highway with the 2.7L.

Grab all the gear you can get! 3.73 is kind of the magic number. You can even get a mustang with factory 3.73s now. You wouldn't want to be out-geared by a car, would you?? lol j/k.

3.73 elocker is the best choice listed. You won't regret getting the elocker, but you will regret any of the others, in my opinion. I think all trucks should come standard with a selectable locking rear diff.

I am with everyone that says get all the gear you can. I ordered my 3.5 Eco with 3.55's and would have gotten 3.73s if I could have without getting the longer bed.

how e-loc works

how does fords e-locker work? does it engage when it determines it is needed? or is there a manual switch? My company vehicle is a f-450, with what I presume is an e-locker. I think it sucks!!! when you start spinning, the engine practically shuts down, then I guess the axles locks, then it lets you start again, AFTER ALL MY MOMENTUM IS GONE!!!! and max rpm is about 1500. is this the way the f150 works? if so, I will not be getting that option for a locker. I will go aftermarket
