I just got a 1990 F-250 from a friend. They said it was running before they parked it. 3 years later it will start up but die right away. The only way to keep it sort of running is to give it gas. It also wont go over 3000 RPMs.

Have you cleaned the gas tank? Could be your fuel pump or TPS.

Edit: definitely fuel related.

 

3 years is a long time to sit. Drain fuel, add fresh then see what happens before spending a dime on other parts.
