Cool PCV Hose Location & Idle Issue

I did a tune-up on a 1998 Ranger (6 cylinder) when I went to replace the PCV the hose leading to it snapped under the intake because its 15F outside. Where does the other end of the PCV hose lead to? I fear I will need to remove the intake to replace that hose now, I tried to run the truck without the hose (but new valve installed) and it will not idle I hope it is because of the PCV being disconnected?!

The other end of the hose is connected to the bottom of the intake manifold isint it?

You will have to tell us which engine, 3.0L and 4.0L are different.

3.0L - I pulled the upper intake off and the connection I was looking for was indeed under the plenum for the PCV valve. I was not able to find a molded hose so I bought 2 feet of vac hose that is flexible.

I will reassemble this afternoon.

Be aware that there are different types of hoses. Some are for vacuum and some for fuel or power steering etc. Although PCV is mostly vacuum, there is some oil vapor coming from the valve train area. It you told the service guy what you were using it for, you probably got the right one.

I hope so, seems too thin of a wall to be fuel grade line. I assume it would take a very long time for vapors to eat a hose?
