Keep alive memory

What is the "Keep Alive Memory" I see it in the pull down menu on AE when doing a buzz test. There is an option to clear it, what happens if I clear it ?

It's basically the memory that the PCM retains when you turn the key off. That's why the PCM has two power inputs, one that's always hot and one that's only hot with the key. If you clear it, it'll forget any stored codes, and it might throw a KAM error (something like P0603). If you have an automatic, I THINK I recall reading that the PCM does not "learn" your driving patterns and adjust its shifting accordingly, so there's nothing like that to be lost.

Thanks, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't wipe the PCM.
