Single Shocks vs Dual Shocks

Single Shocks vs Dual Shocks
I have a 94 F150 4WD with the Dana 44 front end. I am having some issues with the options offered for the front ends. I have a single shock tower on my truck, but when i search the VIN number on the fordparts web site, it shows the dual shock towers.
I have been replacing items throughout the front end, and noticed there wasnt a sway bar either.
I need some help in determining how to figure out what my truck should have.
Whats the difference between the two set ups?

If the vin shows dual, then somebody probably changed it over to single. Id say the same with the sway bar, somebody probably removed it.
I have the dual shock setup and also have the front and rear sway bars.
Can you see front shock mounts in front of the coil spring?
I personally like the quad setup.
