Anyone got a pic of 9" 3rd member

I'm wanting to see a pic of the both a large trac loc and a open carrier on a 9" that would be in a 78 bronco. I'm putting disc brakes on mine and the gear oil was crap so I pulled the 3rd member to change it. Now I'm wanting to know if mine is open or ls

Ford 9 inch Posi or Locker Question | The H.A.M.B.

Was there a tag on the front side of the diff under one of the nuts holding the carrier to the housing?

When you look in the back side do you see a stack of clutches?

Your axle tube size is the deal maker for disc brake conversions iirc.

No tag it's been apart before and the kit I bought seems like it's gonna work. I can't see clutches but the 9" looks different than a Dana 60 that I've been in before

I'm thinking it's open because it uses 3/4" bolts to hold ring gear

You have a well-used axle that had crappy oil in it. You think them bearings are going to spin all nice a quiet for you? Might, might not.....

Yeah I'm kinda worried about the bearings. One side axel bearing looked good the other side had some pit marks.

If there's pitting on either the bearing or the race it's time to replace.
