So I'm changing the oil on my 351m... Time to add the oil annnddd I'm not sure where to add the fresh oil? Do I pour it in the front right valve cover opening?
Thanks, sorry for the dumb question. My Haynes manual described the oil fill cap as having a hose coming out of it and my valve cover caps don't have hoses?
Should be able to pick up an Operators/Owners manual (reprint) easily from the usual suspects. They were still readable and fairly informative in those days. Will contain capacities and maintenance schedule, lube orders and recommended spark plugs etc.
Somebody has changed your valve covers for some chromies, which appear to have two breathers. If you don't have a pcv valve and hose that needs to be remedied
Don't be embarrassed, I had a swamper do an oil change for me, he got the filter right, poured the oil in my rad instead of the motor. Good thing I popped the hood on the cube van to double check my oil only to find the dipstick dry and noticed the oil trail down the rad and fan shroud.
A swamper is the guy who carries everything to or from the truck. Usually someone who cant stay sober or is to stoned for a real job. But there are rule exemptions such as when you have a real liability bond. Then your swamper is a university student or an immigrant who has a family to feed and cant afford to be fired.
Ignorance is usually why people remove PCV. That and if they like oil leaks. For a leak free engine you need a vacuum pulled via the PCV and a way for fresh air to enter the crankcase via a breather or hose attached to the air cleaner housing
Why would you let a nutcase work on your truck?? I still don't get it!
Because Clarence had been a driver for Mcgavins for at least ten years and had left the job due to a health issue. As part of the daily start up, their drivers do a truck check before they start the truck and Clarence was fully versed in this as I had seen him do the pre start on both of my trucks, 90 E350 cube and a 97 Brigadier top kick. He knew where and what every thing was, but for some reason he screwed up.
I'm the guy who hires the sober and non drug addicts only
