Engineer's Response

Thanks for asking jimwill, our engineer's had this to say:

For conventional hitches - Conventional hitches: Existing customers with 2 ½” or 2” ball mount can fit in 2017 conventional trailer hitch. They also can use 3” ball mount for HD hitch.

For 5th Wheel/Gooseneck hitches - The 2017 5th wheel prep package is compatible with all 2016 Ford hitches and accessories.

Engineer's Response

No worries on the multiple questions. The engineers said - no, none of the cameras front, rear, side mirror or CHMSL record.

Engineer's Response

Great question, our engineers had this to say:

The 2017 F-250 with the 6.2L engine and 6R100 transmission has a 6th gear ratio (final transmission ratio) of 0.691.

Must appreciated.

I was wondering if the model or specs of the axles being used in the new super duty can be told? And what part of the frame is 50k psi and what part is 80k psi steel.

EMISSIONS

I have a 2004 F250SD V8 6.0 and am considering a new pickup, however, I have been doing a lot of reading on passive and active DPF processing and the injector located in the exhaust.

This (injector located in exhaust) sounds like the best and least invasive method for Performance and economy.

Is this the standard way Ford Diesel trucks are built?

DPF concerns me with the high repair costs and I don't want to be caught off guard. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for the height of the F250 and F350 in the 4x4 configuration. Also if there is a difference in cab height with the 18" and 20" tires.

on top of that, could you tell us the height of the bed: perhaps at the GN hitch point and tailgate (8ft bed)? Just need to make sure i have enough clearance with my current GN trailer or need to lift it a bit

Thanks

The initial brochure for the 2017 (http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/...0%20Pickup.pdf) has the heights without options. The for 2017, the 20" tires will make the truck 1" taller. LT275/65r18 --> LT275/65r20. The 2016 had a LT265/70R18, which seems to be absent for the 2017.

I'm hoping that the trucks are a little shorter when the final production version comes out. If the F350 4x4 SRW that I want really starts at 81.5" tall, it will be 82.5" tall with 20" tires. That's 1/2" taller than my parking garage at work. People with 7' garage doors will also have an issue as 7' doors are typically 6'10" or so to the trim board.

I had saw the brochure but don't think it's accurate. For one F250's have a shorter rear block and therefore should be shorter. The brochure doesn't distinguish between the two. There is no need in making them so tall.

I also wish they weren't so tall. There has been much discussion over the block height on the F250 vs the F350. I think the consensus is that all of the recent 4x4 super duty trucks have 4" blocks - F250 or F350. I looked under a few 2016's at my dealer, and both the F250 and F350 definitely had the same 4" block.

The current dually is lower than the SRW, but the brochure doesn't indicate that either. I can't believe that I'm hoping that the truck is "only" 80" tall!

If the F250's have 4" blocks then how does a F350 differ from a F250?

The F250 with the camper package has different emblems and different stickers in the door. The F250 without the camper package also is missing the overload spring that the F350 has.

Same as my 13.
There are two different types of spring sets,
three and an overload and four and an overload on the superdutys.
I've asked many people to find out how to get the four spring when
ordering and no one seems to know. It has nothing to do with gvwr
or payload. I'd love to find out. Anyone?
