Hood!*@!

Alright just went to start taking my truck down to the frame and hit a road block the first min. in. Hood setup has to be one of the worse designs I've seen in a while. Looks to be impossible to do alone without creating a sling from the ceiling in the barn. Looks like a trip to the hardware store to get parts to create a sling, hoping the rest of it gets better.

Also would be quite interested in a hood tilt kit or a way for the hood to go up higher when I start putting things back together. I understand nobody make a hood tilt kit for a 1950 F2?

I've done it myself a couple of times, no problem. I just open it, prop it up with a stick at the front and lay a moving blanket across the engine bay and cowl (not necessary if you don't care about paint). Disconnect the springs (cotter pins at hood), then pull the bolts on the hinges. Close the hood slowly/carefully, and slide it forward and off. It's bulky but one person can easily carry it off to the side.

Like Ross said, it is not a bad job for one man, on or off. I place a wooden 4x4 across the engine compartments and allow the hood to come down on the 4x4 when the springs are loose. Hold the hood up in front with a stick of wood or piece of PVC pipe as needed. I take mine off the front. A blanket will protect the cowl when the hood comes off or when it goes back. Think it through before you start. Neither Ross nor I are big guys.

You may not be BIG in size but you both have very big hearts for helping other people in this hobby.

Thanks for the ideas! Still going to do a couple of straps from the ceiling that I can use later for the bed.
