Roof Visors, spot lights on the A pillars, grab handles on the cab, grandpa graphics, 6.4 bumpers, and those fiberglass steps/flares like Glenn's truck has on it. These are all things that bugs the hell out of me on OBS trucks. I know Glenn, your truck has 2 of those things. I forgive you. lol

hey bill, how bad does it fluctuate? Mine isn't rock steady and never has been it. how bad does it wag? 2,3,4,5 mph or more? Have you investigated the cruise separately from the cluster? Maybe they aren't tied together..I'm not there but I sure would like this fixed for you...its time to make ol lumpy LUMP!!

...ISSUES: 1)-Jumpy speedometer through all speeds. 2)- Inoperable cruise control, which I believe is caused by the jumpy speedometer. 3)-ABS engaging when it shouldn't. RESOLUTION TO DATE: 1)-Replaced the VSS with an Echlin unit - nothing changed. 2)- Replaced the VSS again with a Dorman unit and installed a new wiring harness plug to the VSS - fixed the ABS issue, but not the speedometer or cruise control. 3)-Removed the rear differential cover and inspected the tone ring integrity (it had one slightly damaged tooth that we were able to straighten), inspected the tone ring to VSS clearance (I have a .019 clearance), and inspected the end play in the rear differential bearings (none to speak of). None of these actions fixed the jumpy speedometer or the cruise control. 4)-I took the truck to a mechanic who read the VSS output with a handheld diagnostic tool and said it was bad, he replaced the VSS again and reported a clean signal, but I still had a jumpy speedometer and non functional cruise control. 5)-We pulled the gauge cluster and sent it to Cluster Fix | Instrument Cluster Repair for diagnostics. Cluster Fix replaced a circuit board that had burnt components, and the chip set. Cluster Fix returned the gauge cluster "repaired and fully functional" so we installed it yesterday. I still have a jumpy speedometer and non functional cruise control. 6)- We hooked up to an oscilloscope yesterday to read the VSS output again, and found a small glitch that would appear to be happening when the tooth we straightened is read. 7)- today we are going to bang our head against the wall and wonder who we've wronged in this life to such an extent as to deserve this kind of crap!!!

haha, I forgive you for saying it! I don't want holes in the roof taking the visor off and my wife likes the steps to get in. You got the grandpa part right, my oldest grand daughter turns nine tomorrow. I also work out of that tool box year around, that step up to it gets used a lot. Now my wife is demanding a grab handle mounted to help her pull herself in. Its a bitch getting in our mid 60's, we should just stay home . I've been in campsites where people are handicapped and have a lift on the side of their camper. I give them a lot of credit for not letting their disability keep them at home. Gotta keep moving!

I also like the looks of the OBS without all this junk on it. But, I have to admit the hips have grown on me, lol. When I lower the 5er onto the OX, it scares me with all the weight. This pictures shows tongue weight on my 36TK3 as 2,900 lbs. Then I carry 100 gallons of water and a bunch of junk I could be up to 4K tongue weight. Sure glad there are four tires back there and firestone air bags!

What brand VSS do you have in there now? I have tried several and had the best luck with the OEM Motorcraft sensor. They're not terribly expensive, either ($40 or so, if I recall correctly). If the signal is weak, then that may be part of the issue you're seeing.

I would also go through and look for dirty connections in the harness between the VSS and the dash. Anything that weakens that signal isn't helping you out any. I
m also wondering what would happen if you just tried a different gauge cluster in there as a test. It's not a real solution, but would be an interesting test.

I put a little lipstick on ole Lumpy this afternoon. Brand new still in the plastic and the box factory hubcaps...$40 for the set!

tDon't panic, The puddle you see under Lumpy is the AC drain.

Not too bad for $40.

It would seem I have one or more injectors that are beginning to hint that they wish to retire. I think I'm good until the summer, but am starting to look into stock replacement possibilities. I ran across these and wondered if any of you had any useful input concerning them: http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/udp-...e-1994-5-1997/ .....Since I'm running the stock turbo, the 6637 FIlter, and a TS Perf 6 chip, I thought these might be a good install, but I surely don't know.

You can get 160cc injectors from Jim @ Rosewood for the same money, and he has as good of a reputation as anyone else. He's the best. When I buy injectors, its from him.

Also, I absolutely will not buy from a company that goes by the name black cloud or any other name like that.

What these guys said...Rosewood only. The only others I would go with would be brand new Alliants if you are wanting to stay stock. You can get those from RiffRaff.
