This a stock air box??

Ok just want to confirm this indeed stock air box. I have 6637 on truck now. Going to Chicago in a few weeks and may grab new filter and install this back.
I had bent washer so tried it to tighten the lid up. Helped a bunch

Stay with the 6637 or buy a different aftermarket system. The stock version is a poor design and leaks and will put your engine at risk of dusting.

What is are the differences between that and an AIS air box? They look a lot alike to me.

The AIS (stock on the 6.0 BTW) has a much better seal than the stock air box. It flows much better than the stock 7.3 box. And is much quieter than the 6637 filter. No, the AIS filter will not fit in the stock 7.3 air box.

The AIS don't have tabs to align,it has spring clamps only,& much better filter element.

Now I'm getting the picture ha ha. AIS is rounded where original is squared off. Original has two clips and tabs for alignment, AIS just has four clips and no tabs.

A dirty 6637 will flow a lot better than a new filter in the stock box. I while back I played around putting the stock box back on before replacing my dirty 6637. What a shock with how anemic the truck was. The stock box and filter suck!

The main issue with the stock air box is not the limited air flow. It's the fact that it doesn't seal well and can allow dirt in ruining the turbo and engine. If you're careful with it, and aren't running hot tunes, it really should be just fine, assuming it ain't leaking.

I have decided to run the 6637. I may get new one before trip. I can get locally replacement from fleetpride.

I did remove and lightly drop the filter while rotating.
Pretty wild seeing the particles fall out that aren't visible.

Anything is better than the crappy stock square air filter.

To accurately answer this question, yes the AIS is stock, in terms of being a Ford product, but no it's not as far as it being an upgrade to the square box intake, that most people will go to, or if more is required the 6637 filter (I think that is the number)
