Door Ajar Switches

When I turned the key on, interior lights stayed on and the door "ajar" icon was on. Open and shut all the doors including the rear hatch. Still on. Did it again and still on. Ran X through the car wash yesterday and all worked OK when I parked it. Didn't have my glasses on so I could not see a specific door open. In fact they all appeared to be open. Did not have time to screw with it.

Where are the door/hatch switches located?

I believe the door ajar light is triggered by the actual door latch in our trucks.

Some WD40 sprayed into the door latch mechanism usually clears it up. Common issue from what I understand.

I remember having to do this procedure on my old Expedition, haven't had the issue with my current Ex, but then again I did the WD40 trick as preventative maintenance when I got the truck.

Also make sure to check the rear hatch. That gives me an issue every now and again.

Plus, there are TWO sensors on the aft hatch ... one port & one starboard. My '01 had this issue and WD40 helped ... for awhile. I eventually found that Ford issued a new part number for the sensors, so I repleced 'em all. Don't accept any packaged in boxes. The newer ones are sealed in plastic bags. Was not a fun DIY job. FWIW, my '05 never had the door ajar issue.
