58 f-250 5.0 EFI Engine Swap Help
Hey guys!
I am new to this forum and am looking for some guidance! I have a 1958 f-250 with a pretty decent 223 in it with 3 on the tree but, I want more... I have a line on a T5 and a 5.0 EFI from an 89 Mustang GT, all of the wiring, ecu and all that is with it but I am lacking knowledge. I need to know what I'm getting myself into. Is it a straightforward swap? Are there aftermarket mounts available? If there is already a thread on this I am sorry as I said I'm new.
Thanks a lot!
Lars.

the 5.0 efi motor \has one of the largest aftermarket followings probably of any modern engine, so it makes a great candidate for an engine swap. lots of info out there on doing this swap on many vintage cars and trucks (probably the most popular swap is into the 65 - 70 mustang, lots of what applies to these swaps also will apply to your swap).
i would ditch the factory computer and use an aftermarket unit. lot easier wiring as the factory unit has a lot of wires and functions that will not be used in you application plus you get the manufacturers support and tech assistance if you run into problems or have questions about installation.
lots of ways to mount this engine. can use an aftermarket crossmember (like the ones from LMC or Dennis Carpenter to name 2 vendors) or fab your own mounts.
the T5 will take a bit more as you will have to adapt a clutch system to work and also shifter placement might be an issue depending on location of shifter on tailhousing.
all in all a pretty straightforward swap, been done lots. just do lots of research beforehand so you don't run into any big surprises.

That is not correct, the factory EFI system from this vintage mustang controls the engine only and nothing else, and there is very little on it besides some minor emissions equipment that could be deleted. This PCM is also widely supported by tuners if you decided to build up the motor, but even the stock system will have no problem adapting to a few hop-up goodies like headers and a full exhaust.

Salutations Lars;
Actually w/ the same amount of Funds you will be spending on the T-5 & 5.0 EFI, time to change all the mounts & the like, you could acquire All the Performance Up-Grades that are Still available for the Venerable 223 I-6, Performance Cam, Tri-Pak Performance Intake, Header, Balance & Blue Print, Port & Polish, etc., w/o the bloody headache of the former.
