Hey fellas, while plowing the other day in my 97 f250 hd, I busted the left front axle u-joint, and the inner shaft ears are messed up enough that I won't get the new u-joint caps into it without doing some grinding or filing to get the ears back to round. Any thoughts about if I should or shouldn't try to salvage it? And any of you guys have a left front inner shaft for a Dana 50 ifs you'd want to get rid of?

broncograveyard.com is a well known source...thought they also carried used items but didn't see any on their website...may be worth a phone call.

I have one but there is bound to be one closer.

I wouldn't hesitate to get a salvage shaft...you already know what a bad one looks like so I suspect you could spot any defects. I think the driver's side inner axle just pulls out once the spindle is removed?

 

Thanks fellas, I called several salvage yards yesterday looking for a used shaft but didn't have too much luck, so I just fixed mine with a little elbow grease.

 

I also have one but I'm not much closer.
