maf conversion

I picked up a 1994 f150 recently. It has a 5.8,e4od,4x4 with 3.55s and 33s. I noticed it has a maf sensor but is not hooked up. I looked up the vin and it was 5.0 truck. It has what I believe is a map sensor though. Would the 5.0 pcm run a 5.8 with a map sensor? I would like to know how to change it back to a maf system. I've used the search but I haven't had much luck finding info for my situation. I did get some wiring and pcm from another maf truck. Thanks for any help.

Morons. They probably use the SD 5.8 engine harness that came with the motor and gave up when they couldn't get it running right, if they has just left all the original 5.0 wiring under the hood it would have run great.

Yes, but a 5.0 MAF PCM would run it better

Start by swapping out the complete engine harness, MAF uses sequential injection while SD is batch fired, but before you button it up pull out the PCM and get the catch code off it, post that up to see if we can decode it to see if it is a MAF or SD PCM. If it is a MAF PCM then you need a MAF wiring harness, but if it's an SD computer then you need a complete SD harness and you also need to figure out if the truck was actually MAF to begin with.

I got the engine harness off of a 94 with maf. I also got the wiring for the maf sensor and the pcm. I will pull the computer. Could I wire in the maf wiring?

Catch code is on the PCM connector sticker. Big letters, usually 3 or 4 characters.

Yes you can wire in the MAF yourself
