radio wiring

I have an 05 f350 with stock radio. The radio wasn't working so I took it out and replaced it with an after market radio. It doesn't work either. When I plug it in or the original one you can here the cd click so there is power but no power to turn on the radio itself. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you had a wiring issue before. I would say check the power in the harness and see if you are getting enough power. Also, did you check the fuses.

There are always two power supplies, one for the clock and one for the music. So lots of times problems like these occur, meaning that you have one power supply but not both.

These trucks have a relay that leaves the radio on when the key is off, so it's not direct "key on power" So you need to determine if you have power to all the wires that should be powered. If you don't, there is that relay that might have gone bad. If that's not it, then you'll have to look for wiring problems. Don't necessarily trust the fuses. For instance, if the radio fuse fell out, would you know it wasn't there?

Do you know the the number for the relay you're referring to? My f550 is doing the same thing.
