Dunno about a big F250 but the 6.2 does fine in my little F350. For a daily driver it's great. For full time towing the diesel would be better but for occasional towing/daily driving the 6.2 is perfect.

I have the 6.2 I wish it had more smoke off the line, but It is a 3/4 truck. I have never thought it was underpowered.

Plenty of power from my 6.2. I've clocked 0 to 60 in my 350 at 8 seconds with 3.73's..Look at this with a 5 star tune. Looks like about 6 seconds. Very fast for a heavy truck and this is a 4x4 with 3.73's..

I also tow an 30 foot 8,000 pound RV quite regularly and never felt that it was struggling. The biggest thing I think about is a diesel would be great, but for my needs (not wants) the 8k difference in price, the 50-80 cents a gallon more, $70 oil changes, DEF, the minimal MPG increase (as opposed to before the EPA regulations) it didn't make sense for me to have one.
I really did/do want one, I have since I was 14 and maybe someday I will get one.

I have towed over 6k and honestly the truck felt great. handled the turns great, braked flawlessly, and took off from a stop nice and easy, no need to floor it.

There are a lot of examples of big trucks and little engines (not our 6.2 super dutys) the most obvious being the 5.4 super duty

I don't know what the biggest f series came factory with the 300 six but there were some big ones. I drove an old ford dump truck back in the eighties that was probably from the sixties and it looked to have a small block in it, maybe big block but gasoline for sure. It had the big (not sure) 8" speedometer

[QUOTE=Tawn;16023281]Not much towing or hauling at all. I sold my 12,000 lbs boat and the new one is 46' X 16'.

Is it legal to tow a 46 foot x 16 foot boat on the road? Sounds like a big rig may be needed

If he has a CDL it doesn't matter.

The boat's 2' wider than you can tow in most states. Add on some width for the trailer, he could be close to 3 feet over. Many states have a 65' total length limit which he would also be over. It sounds like a boat you keep in the water.

Can always get a special permit if that's the case. It's not hard at all to get.

True, but typically when you get a boat that size you don't tow it much if ever.

Ok here is the set up
Towing our 28sgs Cougar fiver loaded up it weighs about 9300 lbs, going up the grapevine into LA about 2 wks ago in manual mode. I am in the second lane from the right , passing the Semi's in the truck lane, got a nice momentum going and cruising at 60 in 4th. not quite at the steepest part but getting close , getting ready to drop it into 3rd if needed. come up on a newer (2015?) Ram chassis cab towing a car hauler , he has 2 small compact cars on , not a lot of weight but probably a little more than me. He decides at the last second to pull out in front of me, in order to pass a semi. I have to hit the brakes and then loose all momentum , it drops the speed down to 20. He crawls past the semi, & I think, damn I am going to have trouble getting back up to speed and get ahead of him. He pulls back into the truck lane as we are getting to a steep part of the climb, I am deep in third , so I drop it down to second not expecting too much ability to pass as I still don't have any speed & no momentum up, I floor the pedal.. and the truck with fiver on takes of like a rocket, . Passed the Ram like it was standing still, I was as surprised as he was when I flew passed him towing the fifth wheel and flew up to 60 again going up into 3rd then 4th.. I was a proud 6.2 owner that day.

I have been over the grapevine a few times with a bass boat. Your story put a smile on my face!
