1993 F150 speaker replacements
I read through 15 pages of posts, and didn't find what I am looking for. I have the XLT, with an aftermarket stereo. I have a dual head unit. I have read that some folks don't like them, however, I find them to be pretty good for the money, and so I have one in my 68 Cougar as well.
Anyway, my factory speakers are shot, and I am looking for a recommendation on easiest size to fit in stock location. Something like a 50W would be fine. I'm not looking for super duper, I just want a decent sounding system.
What fits best? How hard is it to get the speaker grills out of the rear? And do the door panels have to come off to replace the fronts?
Thanks,

I was once an audio snob of sorts. I spent a lot of money on a head unit, amplifiers, subs, and door speakers in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The speakers were all Infinity Reference speakers, btw. I also spent money on sound deadening material inside the doors and such.
I eventually figured out that really, you can't get much better than the stock speakers for the money. My current truck has the stock stereo, speakers, and factory sub. It sounds really great, too!
If a speaker ever goes out, I know I can replace it with another (most likely) 4 ohm speaker for anywhere from $10 to $25 and keep on keepin' on.
I'd say get speakers that can operate off the voltage your HU is putting out. If that's 50w it's probably all four speakers or more likely 25w front + 25w rear, so get four speakers rated at 15w peak each and enjoy.
