4x4 won't ingage help
hi guy's, I went to put my truck into 4 wheel drive, hit the switch, light came on, but nothing. My tranny blew this summer & had rebuilt one installed by Ammco. I didn't think of checking if it goes into 4 wheel drive when i picked it up(DUMB),anyway, it alway's worked fine & not much use on it. When i turn the switch to 4x4, i here it click & the light comes on showing 4x4 but won't engage. I think Ammco did something to it changing tranny, what do you guy's think??? Oh Ya, Ammco put a Ford rebuilt in,2 day's later it blew again, they put another one in,8 day's later that blew,so now they took it all apart & rebuilt it them selves with an Ammco specialist. $3,000,3 tranny's later, it works fine, IWA vacuum is working,i think the IWA switch behind the battery is working because that's were there clicking sound is coming from, if it click's,dosn't that mean it's working??? Any help or suggestions?? john

if the transfer case motor has engaged, then the front driveshaft would be connected from the transmission to the front axle. When you shut off the truck and loose vacuum the front IWE should engage and the half shafts will be engaged to the tires... You might jack up one front tire, try to rotate it, and see if it drives thru to the front driveshaft and back to the transfer case. If you are in 4 x 4 , you will not be able to rotate the driveshaft.

here's what i tried
HELP!!! Ok, here's what i have tried so far, started truck, put fan on high, put switch to all vents, all blowing, turned switch to 4x4,light came on,did not engage, turned switch to a/c vent and all vents stopped other than a/c vent, meaning i have vacuum. next i had somebody in truck & i layed under it,had him turn 4x4 switch on & off while i hit the transfer case motor, after a couple of hits, instead of clicking like it was,it started to work, trying to engage, then stopped. Now i have nothing, the 4x4 light does not come on,it dosn't even click anymore. So, i must of blown a fuse. Do you guys know anything that can help me?? I don't know where or what fuses to check. I did just pick up a new transfer case motor but want the fuses fixed first. any advise on how to locate them??? TKS

before i got under truck to tap on transfer motor as last test, every time i switched from 2 to 4 wheel i could here the solenoid clicking,4x4 light stayed on but didn't engage it. I now got under truck, had somebody turning the 4x4 switch on & off while i hit the motor easy, after a few hits, the motor started to work(tried to engage)then nothing, now the 4x4 light is not working nor is the clicking, it had to blow a fuse,so, when you say R01 & 2 on the left fender(i see them),how can i check them? or do you think the motor shorted out??
