'48 F1 bench seat measurements & patch panels

Hey Folks,

Wife wants to make me new vinyl 2 tone (not orig design) bench seat covers/reupholster starting from the springs up. Two tone seat colors considered custom for this model year and prices are off the chart. I've contacted all the usual sources including their own referrals and have had no luck.

Any place to find dimensions or better yet a diagram?? Been searching the internet and I've been unsuccessful..

Secondly, looking for reasonably priced fender & cab patch panels for this F1.

Have seen some fiberglass lower front fenders on ebay $160 a pair plus $60 shipping..fiberglass much cheaper than the steel and since my truck is going to be a driver (a nice driver) I thought it might be a good alternative..any thoughts??

Thanks!!

Hi F-1,
We have a 1950 F1 & we tried cab corners from LMC & others but they didn't have the curves right. Would have been too much work to adjust them. I stumbled on a member here who goes by the handle Reamer. He's from up in Connecticut - a fireman - who makes patch panels for our '48 - 52 trucks.

We bought the corner patches, door sills, etc. from him. I didn't really care about the price but his parts fit. I recall he was reasonable. You may want to send him a Private Message to see if he has what you are looking for.

Good luck over there in Delray Beach! We spent 7 years in Ft. Lauderdale - Near five points in Wilton Manor.

Hi F1,
Just PM me directly & I'll send you his email & snail mail address.

Here is a link you can try to send him a PM directly. Admittedly I
dealt with him a while back - not sure how involved he is in the
patch panel business at this point.

Patch panels

Not much luck in finding anyone nearby (delay beach, fl) that will weld some fender patches..can't even find a patch panel maker that doesn't cost a small fortune..looks like another project that I go it alone and sacrifice perfection.

Ive spent more time than I wold like to admit prepping for finish paint but..still feeling a dip or small wave in a few spots.I realize shod have had the patches complete before body work I just wanted to give it my first try while I figured out what to do about the patching and welding..hats off to you guys that have the skill and equipment to conquer this challenge..

What do you consider "off the charts" for upholstery? I'd say at a minimum, for new padding and maybe a few new springs, two-tone vinyl would be at least $600. I'd consider cloth for FL weather, much cooler, and cheaper.
