in it's day it was. now it is just a snow plow truck that sits in the yard letting pieces fall of from way too much body rot. it has since been detuned by turning the fuel down 3 flats, took the ram air off, and put 3 inch exhaust with a muffler and down turn down after the muffler.
hopefully i will get the new cab put on this summer so you can drive it without worrying about your feet hitting the road.

Tom, I've never pulled anything real heavy, correct me if I'm wrong but I should be using a class 5 hitch for a 12k + boat correct? If so, what do I do if its over that? Say 13k or so? Would you use a weight distributing hitch?

494,000 miles, and never once left me walking. even when the transfer case blew, i was able to limp home 75 miles, and the time the starter decided to quit at a gas station, i was able to get her running and back home.
besides the fact she has paid for herself, plus all the modifications over the years 10 times over.
i can't let her go to get crushed down and turned into a foreign crap box.
besides, once i put the new cab on she will be good for another half million miles.

yup, or better would be to upgrade to a fifth wheel trailer.
either way make sure the trailer has good brakes, and you have a good controller in the truck.

Well another trailer isnt an option. The trailer is new that the boat sits on and if I go get it that'll be the trailer that makes the trip. CURT Manufacturing looks like their hitches are up to the task.. Keep in mind my truck is bagged.. And air shocks on all 4 corners..

Here's the Ford towing chart, showing the *legal maximum* we can tow:

With the common 3.55 gears:
Automatic transmission: 9900lbs if 2WD, 9400 if 4WD
Manual transmission: 8400 if 2WD, 7200 if 4WD

With 4.10 gears:
Automatic transmission: 10000lbs period
Manual transmission: 10000lbs period

Mind, this doesn't mean your truck can't physically haul more or brake more weight, especially if you have upgrades. But these are the declared legal maximums that you can't go over without risking a ticket no matter what upgrades you have unless you've gotten the truck recertified - and stock OBS HD brakes weren't the greatest in the world even for the time anyway...

I hear ya on the brake thing even if I have disk brakes on all 6 trailer tires its still a question of if its legal. My buddy said we could take his 16 Duramax Dually crew cab so that'll be legal I'm sure.. I dont want anything to go even remotely wrong towing that beauty back.. Locally to the local launch I'll be fine but 1100 miles is probably a bit much for my srw.. Appreciate that info!

I added a little to the above - if you have 4.10s, you can legally pull 10K.
