First issue to tackle - Dash lights don't work

My dash lights don't work. The instrument cluster and ac controls don't light up but the 4x4 lights and indicators do. I replaced the headlight switch after reading that was a common problem. Didn't work. The back of the old switch and the wire harness were fried together. Do I need to replace the wire harness? Fuses are good. The PO was in the volunteer rescue squad and had wired a bunch of lights into the fuse box. Any advice?

Have you checked the bulbs?

Mine don't work with the dimmer, found they worked if I clicked the whole thing "off" though (turn dimmer switch). Half my bulbs were burnt out, LED ones made a huge difference.

Check any damaged wire with it to not be touching any other exposed wire or metal.

I drove it in the dark this morning and it seems that the speedo light works with the dimmer but that's it. I guess I'd better start checking bulbs

Replaced the bulbs for the ac controls, they work and dim like they are supposed to. I replaced the dash lights with some blue LEDs. They all work except the light on the tach. I decided that's good enough for now Now on to the only other thing that doesn't work, abs but I'll start another thread for that

Did you try flipping the LED bulb for the tach?
