I would like to know from some of you what mods you've made to your Harley trucks and the results both good and bad. I hear a lot of info but would like to hear from the guys who own them. I have 1000 miles on mine so mods will be in the 3-5000 mile range. So far I lowered the back to level off the truck but I'm looking for some advise.
I've been told the Diagnostic/chip from Diablo and Superchips will not be out til the end of this month. I'm thinking to wait rather then burn a chip only to pay to keep on reburning. Any thoughts in regards to this line of thinking? Thanks for any and all help. I'm loving it so far but I'd like to push the 400hp without getting to crazy.

I have the same truck with the same mod. Bell tech shackle kit. Anyway, I was just reading on a websight that the Diablo chips are available. I am going with a Volant Cold air kit, a Lightning blower pulley, and a Diablo chip with multiple programs to match the mods. Should get it close to 500 hp for under a grand.

I'm tyhink you'll be lucky to pull 400 hp with that setup. 500hp is another 170hp how do you see this setup gettingyou there? I hope your right but previous experience says no

We've been programming Diablo chips for the 2003 Harley for months. Sorry to tell you this, but just as MRBLUEOVAL said, you're not going to get 500HP rear wheel horsepower from just those mods.

Am I right about the 400hp? Also when are they coming out with the hand held tuners for the HD03? That is what I'm waiting on. I want that with the pulley and cold air kit. I was thinking this would producenumbers slightly higher then the Lightning, hence my 400hp guess. I've been messingwith Mustangs and chips for quite a while and 170 is not close to realistic. 500hp on these trucks is going to take more then $1000. Giggle gas will get you there the quickest but I think pulleys, chips and bolt ons will suffice on this truck

Sorry, I was talking flywheel hp. It is my understanding that the '03 Harley is about 370 at the rear wheel and the Lightning is about 400. That calculates to about 500 at the flywheel. I figured maybe 30-40 hp above a stock Lightning for under $1000 (over 500 hp).

Also, the advertised weight of the truck is off as well. My truck weighs 5380 lbs on a state certified scale, 400 lbs more than advertised. For a 5300 lb truck to hit a 100 miles per hour in the quarter it would take an easy 400 hp (flywheel). I know of a bone stock truck identical to mine that hit 100 with the tailgate down in 14.2 seconds.

I don't really care what the number of horses it has, as long as its faster than everyone elses.

Our trucks are rated at 340hp and the Lightning is 380. Cobra's are the highest at 390hp. I think you'll pull 400. One of the guys posted this weekend he had dyno'd his 03 and with the mods your saying he only pulled about 340. That is with mods so I'm not sure how Ford is rating the power in out trucks. Anyone care to enlighten us on this topic?

I have a new sport truck mag with an '02 Harley truck being chassis dynoed @370 hp stock. They then added the Lightning blower snout and gained about 33 hp. I also read an article explaining the '03 Cobra was highly underrated. They chassis dynoed it at 370 to the rear wheels. Different dyno but still it was an online magazine article. Ford's rating of 340 hp for this truck is idiotic. The new Dodge hemi is rated at 345 hp and the Harley truck will destroy it (a full second in the quarter). For this reason--Ford's high underrating and Dodge's high overrating-- I think the SRT-10 won't be all that itscracked up to be.

I just cracked the 1200 mile barrier so I'm a few months away from any mods outside a K&N filter. I am going to buy all my parts and then I will dyno before and after. I plan on putting a lower 8lb pulley, and the Diablo programmer(not currently available) and possibly a L-snout. I also want to put a 2 guage pillar with boost and A/F for fine tuning. I don't want a four door race truck just something to be-otch slap some bowties with. I have an 88GT that will do the 11's for me. Why race a beauty like the HD. Thats for styling

Just fyi, the hemi got spanked not because hp is overrated or underrated, its because the harley is making 50ft/torque more in the low rpm's, where the hemi's makes more of its power 2000rpm+.

The 2003 viper gets 475hp to the rear tires, the srt-10 ram will get about the same.

Both trucks were only below 3,000 rpm for about the first half a second. It is the top end thrust of the HD/Lightning that beats the others (when the blower really starts making boost). Low end doesn't mean much in a drag race, maybe when you are trying to pull a huge trailer in overdrive.

I got 1800 miles on my 03 Harley and started doing mods and dyno'd after each. Started at just over 300 rwh and 360 torque stock. MAC cold air pushed it to 318 rwh and 383 torque. Next mod was 6lb lower pulley and diablo chip. That put me at 365.2 and 450.7 with my airfuel at about 11.5 pretty much across the board. Still waiting to put a few more miles on it to see how the gas milage is....of course thats gonna be hard to judge since I've been getting on it a lot more since the pulley and chip...
Next mod is the magna flow cat back. I'll let you all know how that goes. Oh I almost forgot all the improvements were across the rpm range. Best spot was torque at 425 or above from 3200 rpm until 4600 rpm. over 300 rwh from 3400rpm to 5800rpm. Thats with 6700 lbs tow package.

What do you mean by a 6500 lb tow package?

it came with the heavy duty hitch. It showed rated for 5500lbs instead of 4500 lbs and the cargo weights listed 1000lbs above what the manual says. This showed on my paperwork as the 6500 lbs tow package. This is a little higher then what the standard weights show in the manual. If its different shocks or anything I don't know.

The Diablo Predator programmer for the Lightning and Harley is expected out in 2-4 weeks. We'll be carrying them plus having some specials set up.
