01 f150 5.4 advice please
Hi guys, I am looking at an O1 f150 4x4 supercrew 5.4 on friday. This truck has 134k on the clock. I've only seen pictures and discussed condition at this point. It seems to be a good solid truck for being 15 years old.
My question /concern is the motor. Research online scares me some. Is this thing at 134k ready to spit plugs, or is this a sign it's a good motor? Condition of plugs is assumed to be original. Is the spark plug issue as bad as everyone says, or is it getting a bad rep? Is it the motor or the operator.
What am I looking for when checking this truck out? Pics would be awesome.
Thanks

Read through this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ar-engine.html. That puts a bit of perspective on things I think.
Might help give you some perspective on this engine.
Perspective comes in handy when we realize the internet will reveal problems suffered rather than the 95% or higher number of problems NOT experienced. Sure any one break down or necessary repair seems monumental when we're experiencing it personally but over all the 5.4 motor is one VERY long-lived and uber-dependable engine. Since first driving cast iron V8's from the later 50's most every type since then I've rarely seen anything so well designed and manufactured as this one from Ford.
