New truck, when should I do first oil change?

There's an old piece of advice that I've heard most of my life, about getting the FIRST oil change early. While the engine is first breaking in, they say it will grind off more microscopic metal pieces internally. There's no telling if that's still relevant logic in todays engines.. But I like doing little extra stuff like that.
I wasn't planning it out that way when I got my truck, but I was barely at 2k when my 6 month oil reminder went on. So I brought it in for it's first checkup, and did the oil then anyway.

I knew the "time on the lot" for my last four vehicles. All got new oil right away. But I've bought left-overs in there, so I went on a mission to fight 8+ months of lot-rot on two of them.
If it was an order than you took delivery of, let the computer tell you. I'd still say 5K max for an oil life monitor reset and baseline, but I'm solidly on the "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" side of the fence because oil is cheap comparatively, and I crave hard data points.

Only the diesel gets the intelligent oil monitor Us gassers just get a 6 month timer.

My dealer said to change the oil at 5 - 7k. Said they would contact me when I need an oil change. Not sure how they know how many miles are on the truck.
I plan to do the oil change at 5k. Will do it sooner if the truck tells me to do it before 5k.
Like the OP I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info on when to change the oil.

Same here, as for the question, when the owners manual states it should be changed as per the duty cycle used...

Everyone is going to have their own opinion and experiences. Someone will say change immediately and someone else will say the factory oil has special additives and should be left in for some length of time.
They put info on the manual for a reason and my personal thought is as long as you are within those specs, you're good. My personal opinion. YMMV

That's super lame, even the Focus got the fancy oil life monitor. The only time it tripped was the initial one around 11k. I intentionality let it run to validate my OCIs/ make sure it would eventually show up.

Just did my initial oil change at 2500 miles. When I bought the truck, I put a magnet on the oil filter. I was surprised how little magnet particles were on the magnet. The color of the oil was good. I feel I could have gone longer, but I am still old school on some things. Went with conventional oil. Will have Ford change it at 5000 then at 10,000 I will begin my 10,000 interval with full synthetic and with filter (Pure 1) change at 5000 intervals. I've gone this route on all my vehicles for years with no issues. The black ring on the photo is the metal from the magnet. And yes, I did put on a magnet drain plug. Seven quarts and a new filter (did not pre fill the filter) put the level at about 3/4 full between the level indicators.
