302 4 bbl EGR plate gasket bad fit
Hi folks,
I bought the Edelbrock 4 bbl EGR plate for the 302 and have found that the gasket that goes under it has an opening that is a bit too long on the supply side to the EGR valve and extends to the downstream side by about 1/8 of an inch, creating a situation where exhaust gas can bypass the EGR valve entirely. I have the Edelbrock and FelPro versions of the same gasket, and they both do it.
I don't think I should leave it like this, because it will create a big vacuum leak.
I have gasket material of the same thickness. Should I just cut a little piece to cover the opening, or would the Ford dealer parts dept have one that fits better?
What do you think?
Thanks.
