Reported At Auction As Manufacturer Vehicle
From AutoCheck directly, the "Reported At Auction As Manufacturer Vehicle" notation on the car history report means:
"Some auctions have manufacturer sales meaning a particular manufacturer is selling vehicles at an auction. This vehicle is a Ford, so most likely Ford was the manufacturer that ran it for sale there"
I did follow up with this and was told by the dealer that lease returns are owned by the manufacturer unless a dealer buys it and takes it in to their inventory. If the car is not purchased by a dealer, it is shipped to the auction and the manufacturer represents the sale.
Program cars and other special event vehicles also are owned by the manufacturer during the auction and would have the Reported At Auction As Manufacturer Vehicle notation on the history.
It does not indicate that the car is a "manufacturer buyback", which would indicate an unresolved warranty defect "lemon law" car and has a separate and distinct notation on the vehicle history.
