78 f100 headers HELP!!!

Welllll I bought a pair of long tube 302 headers for my truck. Short weelbase. All stock. I have a 302 in the truck as of right no and these long tube headers DO NOT FIT! There's a crossmember underneath the truck and it's hitting. The top of the headers that bolt to the motor are like a half inch off and I've already put money into new exhaust for the truck that now won't work. Is there any other headers from another year or vehicle!!?? It's my daily driver and I neeeeddd my exhaust done! Please help with this

Long tubes on these rigs don't usually extend all way to the crossmember but stop short of it. However, they do end up pointing right in the middle of it.

Whose headers did you buy? What PN?

Here was my solution. It fit like a flesh tuxedo....:

All I did was go to my local junkyard. I bought a pair had he blasted and then but coated them. Relatively cheap way around but they fit on top of that member I don't have supplies nor money to fab up something like that. I already have a good chunk in the exhaust setup already. Isn't there another set of header that might fit right??

Did you ACTUALLY see those headers INSTALLED on a 302 IN a Ford truck? And was it 2wd or 4wd? It matters, I do believe. Or did the JY guy just tell you they came off a 302 in a Ford truck?

If they at least to not line up on the heads, then they are NOT for a 302, its that simple, regardless of the problem on the lower half.

I would take them back and get you $ back it you can. Hedman, Hooker, Mad Dog, Sanderson....get on Summit Racing or Jegs and get to looking at options.

Yes most inside the frame exit will fall out right in front of the trans cross member. Ck out some shorties.

So you need headers because....you just put on a high porformance intake, carb and cam, and need to get the exhaust gas out faster. Or your exhaust manifold is cracked and you can't find a replacement.

Just saying.

It was in fact on a 302. Right bolt pattern and everything. But I don't recall if it was a 2x4 or a 4x4. Deffinitely can't get the money back bc it's been too long, they're closed, and I put to much into them already. Bought a 4 barrel intake to put on. Used Holley carb. And want a cam but not that far yet. Also have purple hornies I want to put on. Gonna look into shorties I guess. All stock other than intake, carb, and distributor. Not much just wanna wake it up a little bit. Might fab stock exhaust to fit purple hornies on it with a new adapter from 2" to 3". Don't know yet

I read this as they do not fit, my bad. Maybe you can Craigslist them and get the money for the other ones?

Headers are really the last step in upgrading for power, so I hear anyway.

The engine forum guys will have al kinds of advice.

I have a set of long tubes off of my 79 302 and a couple of exhaust pipes with Cherry Bombs on them already. They exit just behind the cab. I have all the bolts you would just need the gaskets. Let me know if you are interested. I don't know what shipping would be like. I am in NJ.

All I need is the headers. I have pipes bolts and gaskets. How much do you want? And pics?
