Stalling in reverse and idle

I have a 1994 5.0 f150 with an E40D and mass air. When I bought it, it would occasianally cut off in reverse but it has evolved to shutting off at first startup/idle unless I give it gas. Two days ago I noticed that when I floor it, it will start missing and not accelerate but I let off and it goes back to crusing. Is there any particular test I could do or do y'all know what it could possible be? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Alright I'll pull the codes when my MAF sensor comes in. If I drop the tranny pan won't All the fluid come out?

you will loose some fluid. when was the last time the trans was serviced? Perhaps this would be a good time.

I'm not sure of the last time. I took the MAF sensor off to clean it and my friend broke a wire inside so he paid for a new one. It seems to be running a lot smoother now that I replaced that, it is NOT trying to die at idle or reverse. Ill drive it a little more tonight and see what happens. BUT it is still missing when I really get on it.. Any ideas?
